Who doesn’t have a favorite YouTuber?
With YouTube being the second most popular website in the world (only beaten unsurprisingly by Google) many creators have been able to make tens of millions of dollars from the platform. Not only has YouTube literally changed the gaming industry, but it has also made it more accessible.
Gaming is one of the biggest categories of YouTube videos, and the entire gaming scene has changed thanks to the effect that YouTube has had.
In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the most popular gamers on YouTube, and see what kind of gaming setup they have - in particular, what mousepad they use.
PewDiePie
As the most subscribed YouTuber, PewDiePie (real name Felix Kjellberg) has no doubt earned a ton of money and has spent it well on his gaming setup.
The Swede started his channel in 2010 and was one of the first users to bring the “let’s play” style of content to popularity. His channel really took off in the early to mid-2010s, in which he became the most subscribed channel on the platform.
PewDiePie’s setup changes at a rapid pace. At the moment, he seems to have a large white mousemat with RGB functions.
He has also released his own mousepad, with a black and red ripple design.
Boogie2988
YouTuber Boogie2988 (highly known for his character “Francis”) has always been a gamer at heart ever since he was a young boy.
Starting his channel all the way back in April of 2006, he has amassed nearly one billion views in total. One of his most famous videos features him in character causing a fuss because he is unsure where his Mountain Dew is. He is also well known for his relevance within the huge community for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft.
Boogie uploads very regularly, and discusses his opinions on things and loves to talk with the gaming community.
His setup has changed a lot, especially since he has been on the platform for so long. He currently has a mousepad that has a nice design inspired by Magic: The Gathering, one of his favorite card games.
It is not uncommon for this YouTuber to express himself with a wide variety of mousepads that follow colorful designs, as opposed to plain minimalism.
Ali-A
Alastair Aiken, better known by his channel name “Ali-A” is a gamer that has been at the forefront of YouTube gaming ever since he was in his teens. He is best known for his interest in shooter games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. In fact, he has even won a Guinness World Record for being the “Most Popular Call of Duty Channel by views”.
Ali A has also been able to appear on the trending page for gaming on the site plenty of times, and has enjoyed millions of views as a result. Thanks to Fortnite, he has seen even more of a colossal boost to his channel.
It’s no surprise then that he even has a Fortnite themed mousepad; a simple clean all black design with the Fortnite logo in the center, to remind everyone that he is the king of the game.
SSSniperWolf
Perhaps one of the best-known female gaming YouTubers, the 29-year-old has seen some growth thanks to her interest in shooter games like Call of Duty, Titanfall, Destiny, and Overwatch.
However, her content now mainly consists of mainly entertainment-related videos. She’ll often be seen reacting to TikToks and other YouTube videos. Despite coming from a relatively poor family back in the day, she managed to gain some cash by flipping items and selling them on eBay - after being inspired by RuneScape’s grand exchange.
Even now, she is raking in millions of views daily, and is a sharp businesswoman with her own online clothing store.
In 2015, she was perhaps one of the first YouTubers who had adopted hard gaming mousepads, with a plain white one alongside her Alienware gaming laptop.
She now likes to use a long gray mousemat, as part of her straightforward Mac and PC combination setup.
Conclusion
Mousepads are essential to any gaming setup and are clearly a great way to top things off with some personalization. Many YouTubers like PewDiePie and Ali A have started to release their own mousepads as merchandise, allowing fans to show off their appreciation.
And as we can see with Boogie2988, it is not unusual for many gamers to show off their dedication to a particular game or franchise. Lots of large MMO and RPG games will even release their own mousepads with maps of the entire game.
Some gamers like SSSniperwolf are a fan of minimalism. She has sported some pretty clean setups over the years, with most mousemats having no designs at all.
